Aaron Donald Retires from NFL

Aaron Donald, former NFL star and Pitt alum, has announced his retirement after a highly decorated and dominant career. Widely regarded as one of the greatest players in NFL history, Donald earned three NFL Defensive Player of the Year awards and was a unanimous pick for the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team. With 111 sacks over 10 seasons, Donald led the Rams to two Super Bowls, including a victory in Super Bowl LVI.

Hailing from Western Pennsylvania, Donald’s football journey began at Penn Hills High School before he excelled at Pitt. As a Panther, Donald was a standout defensive lineman, leading the nation in tackles for loss and earning numerous accolades, including the Bronko Nagurski Trophy and Outland Trophy. In recognition of his accomplishments, the ground floor of Pitt’s practice facility was renamed the “Aaron Donald Football Performance Center” in his honor.

Donald’s impact goes beyond his on-field achievements, as he made a significant financial commitment to the Pitt Football Championship Fund, supporting facility improvement and student-athlete development. His commitment to Pitt reflects his gratitude for the opportunities the university provided him and his desire to give back to future generations of student-athletes.

As Aaron Donald bids farewell to his football career, his legacy as a Pitt Panther and NFL superstar will endure. His contributions on and off the field have left a lasting impact on the football community, and his commitment to excellence serves as an inspiration to aspiring athletes everywhere. #H2P.
