Leveraging AI and Geospatial Intelligence with SuperMap

The 2024 Geospatial Intelligence Software Technology Conference (GISTC 2024) took place in Beijing, China, on June 25-26, bringing together government officials, experts, and business leaders to discuss the latest advancements in geospatial software technologies. With the theme “Geospatial Intelligence, Driving Quality Development,” the conference highlighted breakthrough technologies, future trends, and applications in the field.

One of the key highlights of the event was the partnership between SuperMap, a leading GIS platform manufacturer, and Huawei. This collaboration will focus on large geospatial AI models, geospatial agents, and the integration of Kunpeng + Ascend + SuperMap all-in-one machines. The goal is to bring innovation to geospatial intelligence technology and software applications, as well as accelerate the incubation and implementation of industry results.

SuperMap also unveiled its latest GIS product, SuperMap GIS 2024, which integrates advanced functions in the field of geospatial AI. This includes the introduction of the geospatial AI technology foundation (SuperMap AIF), which supports the development of software and platform applications. The foundation offers various models and features for AI 3D data processing, remote sensing image processing, spatial analysis, image and video analysis, knowledge generation, and intelligent geospatial agents.

For example, the “AI automated 3D modeling” function can significantly reduce the time needed to create 3D city scenes. What would take months to do manually can now be accomplished in just a few hours with the automated 3D modeling capability based on SuperMap AIF. This technology has applications in natural resources, digital governance, urban planning, and other fields.

Song Guanfu, director of the Geographic Information System Technology Center of China’s Ministry of Natural Resources and chairman of SuperMap, shared insights on the modernized GIS technology system and the foundations of AI during the conference.

The International SIG Forum held on June 26 continued the engaging discussions from the plenary session, with guests from 30 countries sharing the latest developments and application cases in their respective regions. The event also featured exhibitions showcasing products and solutions from international companies in the geospatial industry and related fields.

Overall, the 2024 Geospatial Intelligence Software Technology Conference was a platform for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and innovation in geospatial software technologies. It brought together industry leaders and experts to push the boundaries of geospatial intelligence and drive quality development in the field.
