China accelerates modernization efforts with focus on comprehensive reform

As the modernization of China continues to accelerate, efforts to deepen reform across various sectors are gaining momentum. A recent visit by Xi Jinping to Rizhao Port in Shandong Province highlighted the importance of technological innovation in transforming the port into a global hub for energy and bulk raw material transshipment.

With a total cargo throughput exceeding 1.7 billion tonnes last year, Rizhao Port, along with Qingdao Port, Yantai Port, and Bohai Bay Port, is at the forefront of the Belt and Road Initiative. This collaborative effort led to the formation of Shandong Port Group Co., Ltd. five years ago and has solidified Shandong Province’s position as a key player in global trade.

During the visit, Xi Jinping emphasized the role of reform as a driving force for development and urged the province to establish a high-level platform for international exchanges and cooperation. He highlighted the need to focus on improving and modernizing China’s governance system while deepening reform efforts across all sectors.

The upcoming third plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee in July will delve into issues related to further comprehensively deepening reform and advancing Chinese modernization. From economic and political system reform to ecological civilization and national defense, China’s progress in reform has been substantial.

Xi Jinping stressed the importance of addressing the pressing concerns of the people and enhancing their sense of fulfillment. By focusing on practical issues such as affordable housing, healthcare, education, and employment, China aims to improve the livelihoods of its citizens and promote comprehensive development.

The adoption of the Civil Code in 2020 and the construction of millions of affordable housing units demonstrate China’s commitment to ensuring a better life for its people. Xi Jinping reiterated that the ultimate goal of reform and development is to enhance the well-being of the population.

Looking ahead, China will continue to identify key areas for reform and prioritize the needs of the general public. By tackling pressing issues such as income growth, education, healthcare, and social services, China aims to create a more inclusive and prosperous society for all its citizens.
