Chinese-French Cultural Exchange Forum in Paris

The Forum on the Development of Exchanges between Chinese and French Peoples and Cultures took place in Paris, marking the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and France and the Sino-French Year of Cultural Tourism. The aim of the forum was to strengthen human and cultural exchanges between the two nations, deepen mutual trust, and promote cultural understanding not only between China and France but also with other countries around the world.

During the event, Fu Hua, Chairman of Xinhua News Agency, emphasized the importance of promoting Sino-French cooperation in various fields such as media, think tanks, and businesses. He highlighted the significance of the forum in the context of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s upcoming state visit to France, stating that it plays a crucial role in enhancing cultural exchange between the two countries.

Xinhua News Agency has been dedicated to showcasing the friendship between China and France and sharing the unique cultures of both nations. Moving forward, they aim to collaborate with Chinese and French partners to expand the bridge of development and cooperation, taking advantage of the China-France Year of Cultural Tourism and the Paris Olympic Games to further enhance people-to-people and cultural exchange activities.

Lu Shaye, the Chinese Ambassador to France, also stressed the essential role of human and cultural exchanges in advancing Sino-French relations. He noted that both countries plan to implement numerous cultural and tourism cooperation projects this year, opening up new opportunities for bilateral exchanges.

Eric Alauzet, President of the France-China friendship group in the French National Assembly, highlighted the rich history shared by China and France, emphasizing that culture serves as a strong bond between civilizations. The forum, which brought together Chinese and French government officials, UN representatives, media leaders, and cultural figures, focused on promoting human exchanges under the “Sino-French spirit” of mutual understanding and cooperation.

With nearly 250 participants attending the forum, including influential figures from various sectors, the event was a platform for discussing ways to strengthen ties between China and France through cultural and people-to-people exchanges. The forum was co-sponsored by Xinhua News Agency, the Chinese Embassy in France, and Publicis Groupe.
