The Grand Alpine Journey, the Alpine Cup by 1000 Miglia 2024, has come to an end after a challenging tour of 1600 kilometers along the Alpine ridge, spanning 7 countries. The event featured 30 participating teams competing in 90 time trials and 18 average rides, culminating in the awards ceremony where Stefano Ginesi and Susanna Rohr emerged victorious in a 1934 Fiat 508 S Balilla.
The final conference highlighted the focus on sustainability and community engagement, with experts from 1000 Miglia and local representatives coming together to discuss best practices and the importance of preserving Alpine values. Alberto Piantoni, CEO of 1000 Miglia Srl, emphasized the significance of creating a network between Alpine communities through this unique project.
In addition to celebrating the winners, the conference also delved into important topics such as place awareness and good practices within the Alpine platform, as well as the major challenges facing the region. The success of this edition of the Coppa delle Alpi sets the stage for future events, with plans to host the race again in winter in 2025.
Looking ahead, the Think Tank aspect of the event will continue to explore the impact of the journey, from the stunning landscapes to the pressing need for change. Participants were left with lasting impressions of the Alpine region, symbolized by the image of the Gletschersee from the Montenvers hut.
