NY State Boxing Hall of Fame to Induct Geneva’s Ralph “Rocky” Fratto | News

The New York State Boxing Hall of Fame has announced its 16-member Class of 2024, with Geneva’s Ralph “Rocky” Fratto being one of the honorees. Fratto expressed his gratitude for being recognized alongside legendary boxers such as Carmen Basilio and Sugar Ray Robinson. The 12th annual induction ceremony will take place on September 15 at Russo’s On The Bay in Howard Beach, offering tickets for $175, which include a brunch, cocktail hour, seven-course dinner, and an open bar.

Fratto, a former NABF Super Welterweight champion, WBA title challenger, and All-Army and Inter-Service champion, received praise from fellow boxer Ray Ciancaglini, who commended his accomplishments both in and out of the ring. Fratto’s professional boxing career lasted from 1976-1986, during which he achieved a record of 28-4 with nine knockouts. Fratto was ranked as the top junior middleweight in the US and the second-best globally by the WBA. His highlights include winning the NABF Super Welterweight title in 1981 and sparring with middleweight champion Marvelous Marvin Hagler.

In addition to Fratto, the 12th New York State Boxing Hall of Fame class features notable individuals such as Joan Guzman, a former WBO Super Bantamweight and Super Featherweight champion, as well as Johnny Davis and Tyrone Jackson, prominent figures in the sport. The list includes both living and posthumous boxers, as well as non-participants who have made significant contributions to the world of boxing.

The ceremony aims to celebrate the achievements and contributions of these individuals to the sport of boxing.
