Stowable: Transforming Storage with a Focus on Simplicity, Customer Service, and Environmental Responsibility

Stowable, a new valet by-the-box storage service, is set to officially launch in January 2024. Founded by husband-and-wife team James and Jen Mugleston, the company aims to revolutionize the storage industry in the UK by providing flexible, customer-centric, and environmentally responsible solutions.

At the core of Stowable is its innovative dashboard, which connects individual storage boxes to customers’ accounts through a Unique Box Identifier QR code (UID). This technology allows customers to track the contents of each box, schedule collections, and arrange returns, providing maximum control and convenience. According to Jen, the co-founder of Stowable, the company operates as an extension of their customers’ homes and businesses. Stowable handles the shipping and collection of items, putting the customer in control of their storage needs.

In addition to its focus on convenience and customer service, Stowable is also committed to sustainability. The company has partnered with eco-conscious companies such as Hiyield Web Developers, Kite Packaging, Jungheinrich, and Starling Bank to offset carbon emissions, utilize eco-friendly packaging, and support sustainable financial practices. Jen emphasizes the company’s dedication to carbon neutrality and states that Stowable actively works towards a comprehensive net-zero plan by optimizing space usage and minimizing energy consumption.

James explains that Stowable’s unique approach to storage separates it from traditional providers, offering on-demand and customized solutions without mandating fixed spaces or contractual periods. Customers also have the option to choose longer periods of commitment, which results in reduced rates. This cost-effective approach addresses the market need identified in a recent UK Self Storage Industry Report that found a significant percentage of people perceived self-storage as too expensive.

The company’s focus on flexibility and affordability sets it apart, however, there are limitations. James acknowledges that some items may be too large or bulky to offer storage for, primarily due to transport costs.

Stowable’s dedication to customer service, environmental responsibility, and cost-effective storage solutions positions it as a game-changer in the UK storage industry. With its official launch approaching in January 2024, Stowable is poised to simplify storage for individuals and businesses across the country.
